Set sail for laughs, adventure

How would you like to cruise around the world without leaving your seat?

The latest production of On the Good Ship Candyfloss from the Australind and Districts Senior Citizens Club promises to do just that.

The story follows popular characters from the television shows Some Mothers Do ‘Ave Emand Keeping Up Appearances as they go on a cruise around the world to discover the wonders of Madagascar, Russia, Mexico and Hawaii to name a few.

Director and producer of the show Eileen Depiazzi said audiences could expect a lot of laughs.

“We sing songs from around the world,” she said.

“We picked out the countries people would recognise straight away.”

Now in her 12th year directing and producing shows for the club, Mrs Depiazzi said the latest production was sure to please young and old alike.

“There are no boring bits,” she said.

“It’s somewhere seniors and families can afford to go and watch a good show.”

There are six new faces on stage this year, including pianist Rosemary Spurgeon.

“We couldn’t do the show without her,” Mrs Depiazzi said.

On the Good Ship Candyfloss will be on stage for matinee performances from May 18.

Each ticket includes afternoon tea, and there will be door prizes and raffles at each performance.
