Shire of Waroona encourages mindfulness and community connection through Summer Park Pop-up Series

The parks of the Shire of Waroona have become a health hot spot this month, with several locations in the area being used to encourage mindfulness and community connection. The Summer Park Pop-up Series is a program of outdoor exercise classes, designed to use Shire-managed parks and reserves while encouraging a healthy and connected community. The program consists of free weekly classes, delivered in Preston Beach, Lake Clifton and Waroona from January to March. The series include Yoga on the Green, which takes place at Preston Beach Golf Club on Tuesday mornings throughout January, before Drumming at the Weir begins on Tuesday evenings throughout February. Yoga by Nature will go through February on Wednesday mornings at the Lake Clifton community reserve, with Meditation by Nature taking place Tuesday evenings throughout March. The Shire of Waroona and Alcoa Wagerup-funded series was delivered last year, and while the indoor classes were cancelled due to COVID, the outdoor classes remained popular with up to 30 people per session. The funding for the series came from the Shire of Waroona and Alcoa Wagerup Place Activation partnership, and the Shire said other upcoming events could include an outdoor cinema series and a long-table dinner.
