SWFL: Nine-goal haul from Jordan Strahan inspires Harvey Bulls to first win of season

A nine-goal haul from key forward Jordan Strahan inspired the Harvey Bulls to their first win of the South West Football League season on Sunday, beating Eaton by 23 points at Glen Huon Reserve. The power forward, recruited from Goldfields Football League club Mines Rovers over the summer, sent a message to the rest of the competition of his quality with a dominant performance in the 11.8 (74) to 7.9 (51) victory. After leading by two points at quarter-time, the Bulls blew the game open with an eight-goal to one run across the second and third terms, opening up a 23-point lead at half-time which they extended to 39 points at the final break. The Boomers showed some spirit in a four-goal final quarter but the result had been sealed, getting Harvey off the foot of the ladder and into ninth position. An unbeaten start to the season for the club’s women’s side continued with a 47-point win over the Boomers in the early fixture. Rachel Wright, Megan Minton and Emma Faulkner all booted multiple goals in the 8.6 (54) to 1.1 (7) win, while Trinity Brown and Tajah Griffiths continued standout seasons.
