The Harvey Bulls are back in third on the South West Football League women’s ladder with a 17-point win over Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault.

The home side kept the Lions goalless for the day to run out 3.5 (23) to 0.6 (6) winners.

Harvey headed into the clash keen to make a statement off the back of a demoralising 74-point loss to Donnybrook which saw them slip out of the top three.

But the Bulls were unable to get on top of their arch-rivals early and the game was still up for grabs at the half.

Neither team had managed to kick a major through two quarters of football, but the Bulls still held a narrow 0.4 (4) to 0.3 (3) lead at the main break.

Harvey came out firing after half-time and goals to Krystal Carter, Emma Faulkner and Larissa Tartaglia saw them take a stranglehold of the match to lead by 20 points heading into the final quarter.

Kicking with the breeze in the final term, the Lions were the only team to record a point in the last term but were unable to kick a major to go down 3.5 (23) to 0.6 (6).

The Lions will host Carey Park on Saturday and will go into the clash confident having competed with the Panthers in round 9.

HBL convincingly won the final three quarters against Carey Park last time they met after a slow start, eventually going down 2.5 (17) to 1.4 (10).

The Bulls will have a bye this week before returning to face Dunsborough in round 20.
