SWFLW 2023: Harvey Bulls jet Trinity Brown torments former club Eaton, despite Ebony Dowson excellence

For the second time in less than three months, Harvey Bulls utility Trinity Brown came face to face with her former Eaton teammates. And on Saturday at the Harvey Recreation Ground, the former Boomers skipper was again one of the home side’s best players, as the Bulls defeated Eaton 13.14 (92) to 1.0 (6). The Bulls, who were keen to celebrate Rachel Tilbrook’s 50th SWFL women’s game in style, bolted out of the blocks and led by 32 points at quarter time — making the most of a breeze favouring the Uduc Road end. With Brown, Megan Minton and Emma Faulkner making the most of direct service into the forward line, the majority of the contest was played inside the Bulls’ forward line. Despite the one-sided nature of the game, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for Eaton. Playing in her second game since arriving on a permit, Peel Thunder captain Ebony Dowson again led from the front for her Boomers teammates. Affectionally known throughout football circles as “Chippy”, Dowson, who typically plays in defence at WAFLW level, routinely ran through the midfleld, where her physical presence helped slow the Bulls’ roll at times. Eaton players also ran from all directions to celebrate with Heidi Green midway during the final quarter, who booted her side’s solitary goal for the afternoon. It was revealed publicly post game that Green had been required to quit playing football due to medical reasons.
