Thank you for everything, I’ll see you down Uduc Road again soon x

I grew up reading the Harvey-Waroona Reporter as a child. It was my local paper and getting the opportunity to write for my community has been an absolute honour and a dream come true. After an action-packed 15 months at the Reporter, which included a pandemic, footy brawl, bushfire, mining protest, State election and public hospital investigation, it is time to say goodbye. I have accepted a position at The West Australian and will be starting in the State political team in Perth next month. I’d like to thank everyone who helped me, shared their stories with me and supported me. Although it was not always easy breaking stories in my home town, I had the privilege of doing some rewarding work and it is an experience I will never forget. I’ll miss covering the whacky stories that could only ever happen in the country — like cows stampeding through the main street in Harvey, Yarloop Primary School losing its time capsule and Daisy the cow getting splashed in the maroon and gold when HBL wins a flag. Giving the community a voice, striving for justice and holding those in power to account is what this is all about. If you have an issue and you feel like you’re not being heard, my ears and emails are always open. Your story matters. Thank you again and I’m sure I’ll see you down Uduc Road again soon.
