The Queensland Firebirds might have missed out on another finals berth but Harvey’s Donnell Wallam stands tall after finishing her second Suncorp Super Netball season as one of the best goal shooters in the business. At the conclusion of the regular home and away season, the 29-year-old has amassed 669 goals after featuring in all 14 games this year. The result makes her the second-highest goal scorer in the competition, behind West Coast Fever powerhouse Jhaniele Fowler with 763. Wallam also placed in second in the competition for offensive rebounds with 42 - 30 behind the NSW Swifts’ Romelda Aiken-George’s 72, and fifth for the amount of Super Shots scored with 50 - 38 behind the NSW Swifts’ Helen Housby with 78. The Harvey-born sharpshooter also chalked up a huge milestone during the Firebirds’ 68-50 win over the Giants during round 11, notching her 1000th career goal. With the Firebirds’ season at an end, Wallam will turn her attention towards training camps ahead of the Netball World Cup, set to take place in Cape Town next month, after locking in a reserve spot on the Australian Diamonds squad.
