More than 20 young people from Harvey and surrounds rocked up to the town hall in punk-inspired outfits to celebrate the town’s first Steampunk event on August 10.

The free event was hosted by the Harvey Local Drug Action Group to bring residents aged 12 to 18 together for a fun, social night out with a focus on the Alcohol Think Again message.

The hall was decorated with Steampunk art projects created by Harvey Senior High School’s art department and live music was performed throughout the night by South West alternative rock band Rich Road.

Event organiser and LDAG board member Janine Quicke said the night was a success.

“Young people talking to young people is the most effective way to identify what it is that youth want from the community for their social activities,” Ms Quicke said.
