Prince Charles has visited his father Prince Philip in hospital in London.

Philip, who turns 100 in June, was admitted to King Edward VII's hospital on Tuesday as a precautionary measure and he walked unaided into the medical centre.

Charles arrived at the hospital on Saturday afternoon, stepping out of a Tesla car wearing a face mask. His visit lasted less than an hour.

Philip, who is the Duke of Edinburgh and the husband of the Queen, is in hospital for an undisclosed ailment that is not related to coronavirus.

He is likely to remain in hospital for observation and rest over the weekend and into next week, a royal source said on Friday.

Charles is the first member of the royal family to visit Philip since he was admitted for observation and rest.

It is thought Charles had not seen his father since before Christmas because of the nationwide coronavirus restrictions.

The visit comes the day after Charles's son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were stripped of their prestigious patronages as the couple confirmed Megxit was permanent.
