VideoKing Charles is said to be planning his first tour of Australia as monarch, with the trip likely to happen next Spring.

King Charles is to visit Australia in 2024 — the first time he will have been Down Under as monarch.

Queen Camilla is expected to be by his side in what will mark the couple’s first trip to Australia since 2018.

It is likely to coincide with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa in October.

“King Charles is planning to visit Australia and New Zealand in October,” a diplomatic source told the Sydney Morning Herald.

The source was unable to confirm whether the visit would take place before or after CHOGM, where every two years 56 developed and developing nations participate in the week-long event that includes countries such as Australia, India, Malaysia, Canada, New Zealand and Rwanda.

“It would be next October, it’s very possible it will happen,” the source said. “It would be around the time of CHOGM that he would come, either before or after, that would make sense.”

Queen Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles let it slip last week that his mother and the King were set to visit Australia.

“He’s coming next year, I think,” Mr Bowles said.
