Taizley wins peace challenge
Manjimup Primary School Year 6 student Taizley Krispyn has won the Lions Peace Poster competition.
“I’m happy about it, because I put a lot of time and effort into it,” she said.
As well as entering a poster, entrants were required to include a quote regarding peace.
Taizley’s quote said we should choose to be selective in our battles, because peace, justice and equality are better than always being right.
Other highly commended entrants were East Manjimup Primary School Year 6 Mazlyn Membry, Kearnan College’s Max Ryan and Manjimup Senior High School’s Bronte Halden, as well as Erica Pearce, Sebastian Walter, Hadley Edwards, Logan Whitelaw and Isabella Hutchinson from Manjimup Primary School.
Organiser Gail Brearly congratulated all of the 70 entrants.
“It has been a pleasure to be involved with this competition and it was exciting to see the final results,” she said.
“I look forward to future Peace Poster competitions.”
The competition was judged by local artists Susan Bradshaw and Fay Dunstan, with judging based on artistic merit, originality and expression of the peace through service theme.
Taizley’s entry will now be entered into a multi-district competition, with the winner proceeding to the national level.
