US President Donald Trump has shared an update after a US military helicopter went down in the Strait of Hormuz.
Initial reports suggest a US AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed into or near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
It is understood that pilots and crew were on board.
Asked about the incident on Monday night, Mr Trump said: “The pilots are fine.”
Mr Trump was tight-lipped when asked what brought the chopper down, stating a report would be issued on Tuesday (US time).
There are conflicting reports online as to whether the helicopter was shot down or it suffered a mechanical failure.
It is understood that a rescue mission was quickly launched to rescue the US military personnel involved, which Mr Trump insinuated was successful.
