GNWFL round 13 wrap: Chapman Valley, Towns demolish opponents to reinforce ladder ascendancy

The titans of the Great Northern Women’s Football League’s 2025 season scored massive wins on the weekend, further cementing the competition as a two-horse race. Both round 13 matches on Saturday were one-sided affairs, with Towns smashing Northampton by 110 points and Chapman Valley demolishing Railways by 93 points. Reigning premiers Towns travelled to Northampton’s Purcher International Oval to face the Rams, and proved too strong in a dominant display. The final score was 2.0 (12) to 17.10 (122). Jessica Giudice-Nairn was on fire for the Bulldogs with six goals, closely followed by Sharntay Westberg, who booted five. The Rams’ only two goals were kicked by Tia Morgan. Giudice-Nairn and Westberg were judged best on ground for Towns, along with Emily McAuley, Olivia Bidwell and Michaela Clarke. The Rams’ best players were Mikenna Schultz, Kara Elliott, Millie Gerreyn, Morgan and Tayte Pappin. At Mazzuchelli Oval, Chapman Valley hosted Railways, with a rampant Royals side keeping Railways goalless, winning 14.10 (94) to 0.1 (1). The Valley’s best players were not listed at the time of print. For the Blues, Hanna Dethlefsen, Glenys Butler, Geneva Johansen, Tori Atherton and Jayda Lewis were named their best. Chapman Valley retain a one-win lead on top of the ladder, with Towns hot on their heels. The 2025 competition has been so two-sided that the Royals and Bulldogs’ percentages currently sit at 3317.39 per cent and 1348 per cent respectively. The two sides have locked in top-two positions with four rounds to go in the home-and-away season. Brigades are in third, three wins behind Towns, while Rovers are in fourth, having won only two games. Brigades and Rovers had a bye last weekend, while Chapman Valley and Towns have the bye this weekend.
