NSW residents can now claim an extra $50 in vouchers to spend on food and entertainment under a $250m expansion of the Dine & Discover program.

New applicants will receive three Dine NSW and three Discover NSW vouchers, while existing customers will receive one of each.

Worth $25 each, the Dine vouchers can be used at participating restaurants and the Discover vouchers can be used at venues including theatres, zoos, museums and art galleries

The NSW government will fund the new vouchers as part of a $2.8m package that it hopes will reinvigorate the state’s economy after months of Covid-19 restrictions.

NSW Treasurer Matt Kean said $480m had been spent across the state’s economy because of the vouchers, which were initially rolled out in 2020 as the state reopened from the early coronavirus lockdown.

“More than 15,000 businesses and 4.8 million customers have already registered for the Dine & Discover NSW program, with almost $276m (worth of) vouchers used so far,” he said.

Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello said the new vouchers would appear automatically in the Service NSW mobile phone app, via SMS or email for existing digital customers.

“Dine & Discover NSW vouchers will start appearing from today in the Service NSW app with all delivered by early December. Current digital customers do not need to reapply to receive the extra vouchers,” he said.

“With Dine & Discover it helps people to get the economy going again, get people out outdoors and help stimulate the economy again in the areas of need.”

Customers who don’t have access to digital vouchers can opt into a new call and collect delivery method from December 3.

From that date, people can call Service NSW on 13 77 88 to nominate their nearest Service Centre and in three business days they can collect their paper vouchers.

The government says participating registered businesses do not need to re-register, while those who want to join the program are encouraged to sign up now and download the Service NSW for Business app to prepare.

Dine & Discover NSW vouchers can be used seven days a week, including public holidays, and are valid to June 30, 2022.
