Hedland’s The Junction Co. and Courthouse Gallery+Studio celebrated the closing night of its exhibition, Radical Futures, earlier this month.

The exhibition was a group showcase highlighting the visions and creative talents of Pilbara artists.

Presented in partnership with the third Regional Arts Triennial, a State-wide program of exhibitions and creative events, it invited audiences to explore the transformative power of regional art and its role in shaping the future.

Held every three years, the Regional Arts Triennial celebrates local identity while building connection, visibility and opportunity for regional arts communities.

This year the Triennial brought together six bold exhibitions across the State that explored what’s possible when artists dare to imagine differently.

Under the banner of Radical Futures, the shows asked urgent questions about Country, climate, community and what we’re leaving behind.

Courthouse Gallery general manager Ashleigh Barr said it was an honour to showcase the Pilbara’s creative talent throughout the exhibition’s run.

“Thank you again to the Pilbara artists who participated and made the most of this incredible opportunity to showcase their artworks,” she said.

Radical Futures brought together emerging and established artists working across diverse mediums, including painting, sculpture, textiles, digital media and photography.

A curated selection of works from these events will be featured in a major showcase at John Curtin Gallery in Perth later this year, connecting regional voices with metropolitan audiences.
