A four-car pile-up, which caused massive delays to peak hour traffic on Roe Highway, has been cleared.

The crash happened on Roe Highway northbound, prior to Nicholson Road in Canning Vale, just after 7am on Friday.

The right lane was blocked while emergency services and traffic management attend to the incident.

Police were at the scene for over an hour. It is understood one person could be injured, with St John paramedics on their way.

Firefighters also attended the crash to control a potential fuel leak. Tow trucks have arrived shortly after to clear the accident.

Main Roads WA tweeted the incident showing a photo of cars logged in the peak hour traffic jam.

Cars were bumper to bumper and backed up to Willeri Drive, with motorists urged to find an alternative route or expect delays.

The crash was cleared just after 8am, with all lanes reopened.
