Ute v pole crash causes Nollamara blackout

VideoA Ford Falcon ute has crashed into a power pole in Nollamarra.

Hundreds of residents in Perth’s north are without power after a ute crashed into a power pole on Wednesday night.

At 11pm a red Ford Falcon ute was driving on the wrong side of Wanneroo Road, Nollamara when it slammed into the power pole near Harrison Street.

The force of the crash knocked the pole on to the roof of a nearby house and cut power to residents in Nollamara and Balcatta.

The 20-year-old driver of the ute fled the scene but was later found by police. No charges have been laid

Western Power crews have closed off lanes on Wanneroo Road as they work to replace the pole.

At least 200 people remain without electricity but Western Power hopes full service will be returned by 11am.
