A long-term plan for cycling paths in the Pilbara will be used by City of Karratha for future budget and planning considerations.

The Department of Transport’s 2050 Pilbara Cycling Strategy was presented to councillors last month as a blueprint for creating a regional cycle network.

At the May council meeting, City of Karratha councillors accepted the strategy and the five-year action plan.

Councillors agreed to consider the proposed five-year action plan as a component of the City’s 10-year footpath strategy.

The action plan provided the City with 19 recommendations to work on over the next five years including extending the path network along Mystery Road.
