Shire of Harvey has extended its prohibited burning period
Fire restrictions will remain in place across the South West, with the Shire of Harvey also announcing restrictions have been extended for a fortnight.
Originally intended to end this past weekend on April 7, the shire has now extended the prohibited burning period until midnight April 21.
This follows the Shire of Waroona extending its prohibited burning period on a rolling fortnightly basis, as well as the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River.
The Shire of Waroona will not lift restrictions until the region receives a significant amount of rainfall.
When restrictions are lifted, residents will be allowed to burn small piles of garden refuse and operate wood and solid fuel barbecues from 6pm to 11pm.
Permits will be required if individuals want to burn grass, paddock, bushland or have a bonfire.
The restricted burning period is set to conclude on May 15.
With bushfires occurring in Dalyellup and Nanga Brook last month, the South West remains on high alert for potential infernos.
