Talison Lithoum has introduced a new Blast SMS Alert Service to give interested community members and nearby residents advance notice of planned blasting activities at its Greenbushes operation.
General manager of operations David de Vries said the service was introduced in response to community feedback.
“We’ve listened to community feedback and introduced the Blast SMS Alert Service to provide interested community members and local residents with advance notice of planned blasting activities,” he said.
Mr de Vries said that while blasting took place within established blast windows, the alerts would provide more accurate and timely information, including notification if a blast was postponed or rescheduled.
He said the SMS alerts were part of several new initiatives aimed at improving communication with the community.
“Together with tools such as our live dust monitoring dashboard, it gives community members more direct access to information about our operations,” he said.
