Recreation and community shared pathway upgrade complete in Shire of Waroona

The Shire of Waroona has announced the completion of the final stage of its recreation and community shared path upgrades.
Funded by the State Government and the shire through the WA Bicycle Network Grants Program, the initiative aimed at improving the shared pathway network and strengthen connectivity and safety in the community.
Announcing its completion online, the shire said the new installation along McDowell Street and Shannon Avenue offered a designated pathway helping to remove the need to walk along the road and provided a safer and accessible route for those walking, wheeling or riding.
“Locating the pathway on the northern side of the street further improves safety by separating pedestrians from residential driveways where vehicles frequently reverse, reducing the risk of vehicle–pedestrian conflicts,” it said.
The upgrade supports the State’s long-term cycle network which aims to provide continuous paths for people to move around town.
The shire said it was proud to deliver a network increasing choices for how people move around the area.
“We’re committed to delivering future shared path upgrades where there are opportunities to do so,” it said.
“Continued investment in walking and riding infrastructure will help improve accessibility, connectivity and safety across the community, supporting active transport and encouraging greater use of shared pathways by residents of all ages.”
