Community groups and non-for-profit organisations with plans to develop projects or events in the Shire of Waroona have a chance to receive some funding.

Applications for the Alcoa Waroona Micro Grants Fund open on Saturday, with groups able to receive up to $2000 to make their goals a reality.

Providing financial support to a range of initiates, the Waroona Shire Council is looking for applications that align with their 2030 Strategic Community Plan.

Groups from a range of backgrounds have previously benefited from these grants with St Joseph’s Primary School, St John Ambulance Waroona and Preston Beach Golf Club all successful earlier this year.

Shire president Mike Walmsley said the council and Alcoa recognise the importance of investing in the community.

“The Alcoa Waroona Micro Grants Fund embodies our shared commitment to collaboration and sustainability,” he said.

“We work hand-in-hand with local stakeholders to address the unique needs and opportunities within the Waroona shire.”

The shire advises potential applicants to discuss their ideas with the council’s community development team before to making an application.

Applications close on August 15.
