Binningup residents could soon be hitting the ramps of their own skate park, with the council calling for the community’s help with its proposed design.

The Shire of Harvey has announced plans to build a new skate park in Binningup following the success of the Harvey skate park which opened earlier this year.

The shire is working with award-winning skate park designers at Convic who helped deliver the much-loved Harvey park.

The design will be for a park set for construction at the Binningup Oval.

In a bid to mirror the success of the Harvey park, the Shire is calling for the community to put forth their ideas at two community workshops hosted by Convic at the Binningup Library on June 20 from 3.30pm and 6pm.

Shire president Michelle Campbell said the team was looking forward to working with the community on the project.

She said calls from the park came from the Binningup Community Garden in 2022, who shared their enthusiasm for the new park and applied for a Coastal Communities Grant to move the project forward.

Those unable to attend will have the opportunity to complete an online survey to express their ideas.

“As we saw with the Harvey skate park project, when people of all ages chip in with their two cents, we end up creating quite the amazing space,” Cr Campbell said.

“Keep an eye on the shire’s Facebook page as well as @ShireofHarveyYouth on Instagram for more updates about this project.”
