The Harvey Bulls celebrated Mark Cherubino’s 250th game with a 65-point win over Busselton at the Harvey Recreation Ground on Sunday.

A six-goal to none opening quarter was the catalyst for the Bulls’ 16.5 (101) to 5.6 (36) victory against the Magpies.

The Bulls were too big for the young Magpies and out-muscled them at most of the contests, which gave them first use of the football.

It was clear from the first bounce that the Bulls would have the edge in the centre and they exploited this by kicking away early in the game.

The Magpies settled after quarter time and their defence of Brody Plozza, Regan Bell and Tayte Devenny worked hard to keep the Bulls at bay, while midfielders Jackson Arbon, Mitchell Lague and Matt Welburn began to win their share of the contests.

But despite brief patches of dominance, the Magpies were never seriously able to control the game, as the more experienced Bulls lifted when they needed too.

Thomas Smith ran rampant in the midfield and took a number of clever contested marks, while Brendon Jones continued to flourish in his spare man role across half-back.

Defender Matt Robson also had a big impact on the game, keeping Busselton captain Aidan Fraser goalless for the day.

Adam Boone was also dominant up forward for the Bulls, kicking a game-high three goals and contributing as the second ruckman.

The Bulls looked like they would blow the Magpies away again early after half-time, when they booted three quick goals.

But again the resilient Magpies worked their way back into the game, as their defenders stemmed the flow.

It was not until late in the final term that the Magpies finally showed signs of tiring and it allowed the Bulls to extend their lead.

Goals to David Faulkner, Brett Lofthouse and Darren Rumble finished the game.
