Bunbury sweethearts set to make their mark on national TV during the annual Christmas event in Sydney

Two Bunbury sweethearts are ready to leave their mark on a national stage at Sydney’s annual Christmas carols event. Hosted by The Salvation Army and streamed on Channel 7 and 7plus, for more than 40 years Carols in the Domain has brought together some of Australia’s biggest stars to celebrate the festive season. Tens of thousands are expected to gather at the Domain — a big open space concert venue in Sydney — while millions more tune in from across the country on Saturday. Lachlann Lawton and Chelsea Burns from Bunbury will take to the stage as part of the Young Stars of Australian Opera performance. Burns said she was excited to be part of the national event, especially because she grew up watching it on TV. “My family and I love watching Carols in the Domain — I remember watching it every year when I was young, so to be a part of it now is something very special and I’m so excited,” she said. “It’s always so exciting to represent WA at events like this. I think it just proves how much talent comes out of our State, and particularly from the South West.” The couple are looking forward to making the best out of the rare opportunity of performing together. “I always love any opportunity to perform with Lachlann,” Burns said. “We don’t get to sing together as often as we would like, so I thoroughly enjoy any and every opportunity we get. There’s nothing better than performing with your best friend.”
