A 72-year-old man has died after his car collided with another in a head on collision on South Western Highway near Brunswick.

The crash occurred at about 12.30pm at the intersection of Marriott Road and the highway in the 110km zone.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 22-year-old man from Vasse, was transferred to Bunbury and treated for minor injuries.

Yarloop officer in charge Lindsay Collett said the cause of the collision was unknown and Major Crash Investigations would investigate.

“Without knowing the cause of the crash I can just say people need to really be focussed on speed limits, be careful about fatigue factors… and only overtake when there’s an overtaking lane,” he said.

“There’s a whole number of things, people need to be patient.”

Police from Yarloop, Harvey and traffic police from Bunbury attended the scene within minutes.’
