Harvey Bulls launch 2024 season with support from AFL legend Harry Taylor

The Harvey Bulls launched their 2024 season on Saturday with the help of AFL legend Harry Taylor. Taylor, who played 280 AFL games and was part of Geelong’s 2009 and 2011 premiership sides, ran skills sessions for both senior and junior players before speaking about the importance of club culture in front of a strong crowd at Harvey Recreation Ground. The club also announced its leadership groups for the season, with Dylan Marino and Aaron Jovanovic set to skipper the league side with support from vice-captains Logan Egerton-Green and Jacob Pickett. Rachel Wright will captain the women’s side with Trinity Brown and Rebecca Fry as deputies, while the reserves team will be headed by Aaron Faulkner and Luke Blair will lead the colts side. The Bulls finished seventh last season with a 7-13 record and will be looking to rise up the ladder under new coach Kurt Haunold. Their playing stocks have undergone significant change over the summer, with local product Braden Fimmano, former East Fremantle star Ryan Lester-Smith and power forward Jordan Strahan among the new inclusions and veteran goalkicker Brad Holmes and last year’s Hayward Medal runner-up Andrew Haydon some of their departures. The club also played their first netball games of the season on Saturday, with the reserves side going down to Eaton 49-35 and the under-16 girls outfit starting their campaign with a 34-32 victory over Augusta-Margaret River.
