Women from across Harvey and Brunswick enjoyed a Devonshire morning tea on Wednesday to raise funds for the Red Cross March Appeal.

Jointly organised by the Brunswick Red Cross and Brunswick Community Resource Centre, the morning tea was the town’s Red Cross act of humanity to help raise funds for people going through hardship and crisis.

The morning tea at the Brunswick Bowling Club was also a celebration of womanhood in preparation for International Women’s Day.

Brunswick CRC manager Tina Wallis said the speeches reminded attendees of the wealth of knowledge and experience shared in the room.

“(The experience and knowledge) should be celebrated and recognised by the generations of women and people to come,” she said.

Brunswick Red Cross president Judy Talbot said though attendance wasn’t as large as they had hoped for the morning tea was delicious and the group raised a total of $860 for the cause.
