Bunbury cricket stalwart Matt Foreman is Bunbury’s Liberal candidate for the 2021 State Election and has high hopes to grow the city.

Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Mr Foreman moved to Bunbury 12 years ago and has never looked back.

“Moving to Bunbury was never my plan, but once I got involved in sport I quickly established my life here and couldn’t see myself living anywhere else,” he said.

“In 2015 I became a member of the Liberal Party in Bunbury, I’ve always believed in Liberal values and being able to lift your potential and now I’m running as a candidate in the next election.”

Having been involved in sport for most of his life, Mr Foreman understands the value of community.

“I started at Colts Cricket Club a few years ago and won four A-grade premierships,” he laughed.

“Sport has played a big part in my background, it’s where I have seen first-hand the community come together and hopefully if we are successful I can see Bunbury come together and achieve our goals.”

Should he be successful next year, Mr Foreman hopes to help Bunbury live up to its potential.

“Our overall goal is to attract and generate real outcomes for Bunbury,” he said.

“We want to be able to give people access to high-end research and development facilities and have Bunbury at the forefront of any cutting-edge innovation that comes into the market.

“We also really want to look at utilising our port and into the future would like to see some roll on, roll off work going into it.

“Something I am quite passionate about supporting the building of an ocean pool, I have had experience with these over East and have seen the benefits they bring not only to the people that are already here but to attract people into the region.

“Nola Marino has been amazing for the South West, there would be nothing better than for the City of Bunbury, State and Federal Government to work together, all reading off the same script to help grow Bunbury.”
