A South West netballer is set to represent Western Australia on the national stage as high school students around the country gear up to compete for bragging rights. Leschenault Netball Association player and Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School student Mia Repacholi is set to represent WA in the girls 15 & under team at the School Sport Australia Netball Championships taking place at Perth’s Gold Netball Centre from Sunday, July 30. The School Sport Australia Netball Championships will see teams representing each State and Territory compete in a six-day tournament for national glory as part of a series of national sporting events. The SSWA team was recently presented with their dresses for the tournament ahead of the squad’s quest to defend their 2022 title, when Georgiana Molloy Anglican School student Tess Taylor helped WA dominate during the round-robin competition with a 5-1 record to edge out Queensland 37-36 in the grand final. Repacholi was selected during a rigorous trials process in the months leading up to the tournament and was announced as the sole high school student from the South West to be part of the final squad. It comes after older sister Jessica was recently named to return to the West Coast Fever reserves squad, representing WA at the Australian Netball Championships set to take place next month.
