South West Soccer Association games a washout

With soccer pitches flooded around the South West region on Sunday morning, multiple games will need to be rescheduled as clubs battened down the hatches amid wild weather. Bunbury United Soccer Club members woke on Sunday morning to find pools of water across their playing fields, leading them to cancel their women’s league, and men’s reserves and league games against Margaret River. They were not alone in calling games off with Hay Park United Soccer Club also unable to host their round 15 women’s match against Busselton, with their two men’s teams having a bye. The Dynamoes reserve ladies were able to play their match against Dalyellup, which they won 5-0 in heavy wind and rain, but all three men’s teams — playing Harvey and Dalyellup — were canned. In Australind the situation was hardly better, but their league women battled it out with Dunsborough after a delayed start. Scores on the game day app Squadi recorded a 1-0 loss to the home team. The match up against the two men’s sides has been recorded as abandoned, though in the lower division the Manjimup Rovers defeated the Australind team by one goal, 4-3. Rovers started the game strongly, with goals scored early on by Dylan Murray and Elyott Woods, but Australind handled the wet conditions and netted the ball once before the half. After the break, the game was moved to another pitch to continue, with Australind scoring the next goal to even the playing field. hey quickly netted another and the chase was on. In Balingup, Blackwood United went down to Dalyellup Park Rangers 9-2 in heavy rain. All three Bunbury United will travel to Australind this weekend, while Hay Park head to Dalyellup. In the women’s league Dunsborough will host Blackwood United, while Margaret River host Busselton. In the men’s top division Dunsborough will host Dynamoes and Margaret River will get a rest with the bye.
