Spring Exhibition to bring sense of renewal to Pemberton on Friday

The Pemberton Arts Group will open its 21st annual Spring Exhibition on Friday night, with the event taking on the theme of renewal. The exhibition, comprising works by 39 artists interpreting the theme, will open on September 20 at the Pemberton Sports Club. It will then be open to the public from September 21-October 6 from 10.30am-4.30pm. Pemberton Arts Group chair and exhibition co-ordinator Anna Czerkasow said the theme related to both springtime and current events. “There were quite a few (themes) that were thrown in, but that was the one that just kept bouncing back,” she said. “All the artists will be interpreting it in their own way and relating it to that theme. “For some people, it’s about renewing something in themselves, like getting rid of old ideas, while for others, it could be the renewal of spring and new plant life, or the birthing of something. “It will be a good and rich exhibition.” Ms Czerkasow said the show has received support from artists and sponsors. She said the exhibition started in 2004 and had grown over the years. “Originally, it had no professional lighting or hanging system, so our art group purchased and installed it,” Ms Czerkasow said. “Our works are presented professionally. Artists are pretty blown away when they see their work hanging.”
