SWSA: Blackwood United have mixed bag of results

It was a mixed bag for Blackwood United on Sunday, with the women drawing in their match against Australind 0-0 and the men’s team beating the Manjimup Rovers 2-1. The women played first but it was a slow start with the half-time score a nil-all tie. After the break, both teams took their chances but were unable to convert any opportunities into goals, ending in a goalless match-up. In the men’s match, Blackwood took a quick lead, booting a goal in the first five minutes, although Rovers caught up halfway through the first term. Both teams picked up the pace in the second term to break the tie, with Blackwood scoring their second goal. Rovers tried to push through, but by the final whistle, Blackwood had held their lead to take the win 2-1. Blackwood United’s women’s team will play Hay Park in Bunbury at the weekend, while their men will travel to Collie. Manjimup Rovers men’s team will travel to play Geographe Bay, and the Rovers’ women’s team will travel to play Margaret River in their final match of the season.
