The congestion-causing roadworks on the Mitchell Freeway have now been completed.

EARLIER: Roadworks are causing traffic headaches in Perth this afternoon, with motorists bumper-to-bumper on the Mitchell Freeway.

Emergency roadworks are causing heavy congestion for northbound drivers, with the Mitchell Freeway reduced to a single lane between Powis Street and Hutton Street.

The lane closures are causing gridlock for drivers, with some so desperate to flee the freeway chaos they’re driving in the outside emergency lane in an attempt to reach the exit.
