The AFL’s annual Grand Final sprint will still go ahead at Optus Stadium — but it’ll look slightly different to years’ past.

This year’s feature event will be contested by only Eagles and Dockers players; rather than each AFL club sending a race representative.

Jack Petruccelle, Liam Ryan, Josh Rotham and Tom Cole will run for the Eagles.

Liam Henry, Andy Brayshaw, Luke Ryan and Ethan Hughes will contest for Fremantle.

“The Colgate AFL Grand Final sprint is one of the much loved traditions of Grand Final Day. This year seeing our two Western Australian based teams compete will be an exciting match up for all AFL fans,” AFL Executive General Manager of Customer and Commercial, Kylie Rogers, said.

“To have eight of the fastest Western Australian players showcase their athletic talent on one of the biggest days in the Australian sporting calendar will be a thrill.”

The grand final sprint will take place at the half-time break.

Melbourne are looking to break a 57-year premiership drought when they take on the Western Bulldogs in Saturday’s AFL Grand Final at Optus Stadium.
