With minutes remaining in West Coast’s thrilling clash with Richmond, Liam Ryan’s kick to Josh Kennedy was textbook. But should it have been play on?

The match-winning kick sailed through to put the Eagles four points up and ensured they pinched the four points from the reigning premiers. But debate erupted on social medial over whether the kick that set it up made the distance.

Ryan collected the ball just outside the 50 metre arc and delivered a short and sharp pass into the key forward’s hands.
