A cold front is approaching Perth, and there’s mixed news for Fremantle fans ahead of tonight’s blockbuster qualifying final against Hawthorn.

There is a high chance of showers forecast for tonight’s clash, which could dampen the Dockers’ hopes of booking a home preliminary final.

Fortunately, however, the worst of the weather is set to hold off until Friday morning with a chance for dry spells.

“It’s going to be light showers and passing drizzle throughout the day and evening; the cold front itself doesn’t come through until tomorrow morning, so the worst of the weather will be avoided,” a spokesperson from the Bureau of Meteorology said.

A full wet weather game would have been a boost for Hawthorn given their fleet of elite small forward threats.

However, that doesn’t mean conditions will be easy, with a relatively high humidity set to make for greasy conditions while some high winds are forecast ahead of the cold front.

“The dew point will be between 12 and 13, but because the temperature is so low, it is going to feel quite humid, sitting between 70 and 80 per cent,” they said.

“There will be plenty of wind around with this cold front coming through punchier than yesterday, so we are expecting 20-30km westerly wind throughout the evening, though the strongest winds will be south of Perth.”

For fans, temperatures are set to be cool, sitting between 14 and 16 degrees from 6-9pm.
