AFL Watch: Max Knobel fights hard as Neil Erasmus cops early blow in Peel’s loss to East Fremantle

Peel Thunder had 12 Fremantle-listed players but fell to a 23-point loss to East Fremantle. Here’s how they fared. Karl Worner: Had plenty of work to do with Peel under pressure, but held up well to record 22 disposals. Was their best driver of scores out of defence and took eight marks. Brandon Walker: Looked untroubled by his shoulder, and showed good pace. Lacked polish with his disposals at times but comfortably won his entertaining battle with brother Chris. Matt Taberner: Inspired a third-quarter charge with his first goal and finished with three majors but was unsighted in the first half with just two touches. Ethan Stanley: Solid all-round display with 14 touches to go with five tackles and three score involvements but needs to clean up ball use. Cooper Simpson: Had four score involvements but didn’t impact the scoreboard himself in a quiet second half. Nathan O’Driscoll: Solid day with 18 disposals and four clearances, pressure was lacking at times with just one tackle. Max Knobel: Struggled early but turned it around to finish with 50 hit-outs and five clearances to try and lift Peel’s struggling midfield. Managed to jag a goal late to go with five score involvements. Odin Jones: Perfect start with a goal on his league debut. Finished with two majors from 10 disposals and made an effort to come up the ground to help out at times. Ethan Hughes: Had 20 disposals but 15 were uncontested, took five intercepts and was a safe pair of hands with the ball. Neil Erasmus: Copped a head knock at the very first bounce and was withdrawn with a concussion. Tom Emmett: Showed good hands with six marks, and looked dangerous early but faded to finish with just 12 touches and a behind. Hugh Davies: Read the ball well to take some fantastic intercept marks in defence but struggled at times with the strength of Cody Leggett in one-on-ones.
