A Melbourne couple will pocket $60 million on the same day their lockdown ends after being the only division one entry in the Powerball lottery.

The couple, who are from South Melbourne and asked to remain anonymous, will spend their first day out of lockdown celebrating by getting chocolate, flowers and going out for dinner on Friday.

"It has been a very tough year for us, really horrible. But this changes everything," the man said in a statement.

"I found out last night while I was watching TV with my wife. We knew straight after the draw that we had won. We were screaming and crying. It was just disbelief. It was amazing."

The couple plans to use their winnings to pay off debts, retire soon and help out their children.
