Floodwaters at Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre are expected to rise above those of last year’s highs.

A spokesperson for Australian Pacific Touring (APT) says: “We’ve been guiding travellers to Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre for many years, building a deep understanding of this remarkable ever-changing landscape.

“There is always something extraordinary to experience here — but right now is different. Floodwaters are predicted to rival those of the 1970s, surpassing even last year’s record. A rare and breathtaking spectacle not to be missed.”

APT has a small-group tour to see Australia’s largest inland lake, with a maximum of 22 guests.

Guests will visit the outback towns of Port Augusta and Birdsville and stay in the only accommodation within Flinders Ranges National Park, close to Wilpena Pound.

THE TOUR

APT’s tour is called Lake Eyre and Flinders Ranges.

It is a seven-day round trip from Adelaide, also visiting the Clare Valley.

There are departures between and April and August and the price is currently reduced from $6195 to $5895 per person.

That includes all meals, accommodation, a custom-designed 4WD vehicle, expert driver-guide, and “signature experiences”.
