VideoIt's been revealed Matildas captain Sam Kerry spent time in a police cell on the night she allegedly racially abused a London police officer.

Sam Kerr has been spotted in London with her fiancée Kristie Mewis — the first sighting of the soccer star since she was charged with allegedly racially abusing a UK police officer.

Kerr is accused of racially harassing the officer — who has been identified only as PC Lovell by British authorities — by calling them a “stupid white bastard” or “stupid white cop” in Twickenham on January 30, 2023.

She was charged with using insulting, threatening or abusive words that caused alarm or distress on January 21 this year, almost 12 months after the alleged incident occurred.

The Matildas captain has not been seen out and about or made any public comment since the bombshell news broke on March 5.

However, on Friday the Chelsea striker was finally spotted leaving a morning strength session at the club’s Cobham training centre, arriving at the venue in the village of Stoke d’Abernon in a chauffeur-driven car.

Dressed in track shorts and a hoodie, the 30-year-old casually left the centre after spending several hours with the club’s medical team.

Photos published by Daily Mail also showed Kerr’s scars on her knee from recent surgery to repair a torn cruciate ligament.

Kerr emerged from the training centre hours later, this time with her US fiancee Kristie Mewis in tow.

Changing outfits into a dressy dinner date look, Kerr swapped her shorts for black jeans and a bright minty-green designer jumper.

Mewis, who is a midfielder for West Ham, glammed up in a mesh black dress, black blazer and boots as the pair walked side-by-side through central London.

When asked to comment about what happened on the night in question and how she was coping Kerr reportedly told media: “Sorry I don’t want to talk about what happened”.

Kerr pleaded not guilty to the offence at a court appearance earlier this month and is due to face trial in February 2025.

Also on Friday, The West Australian revealed the glamorous UK barrister defending the soccer icon to be Grace Forbes.

Ms Forbes has been described by peers as having an “acute tactical judgement and an intensive, forensic focus”, along with a “total mastery of voluminous and complex papers”.

It has also previously been revealed that Kerr had been briefly taken into custody on the night she allegedly racially abused the UK cop, before being interviewed by investigators.

The case will return to the Kingston-Upon-Thames Crown Court on April 26.
