Broome crime: Mum with two kids, grandmother ‘traumatised’ after horrific Broome Boulevard road rage incident

A horrific road rage incident outside a Broome shopping centre has left a grandmother and her two young grandchildren “traumatised” as the trio’s car was rammed multiple times, with the grandmother being doused with vinegar. At around 4pm on Monday at the Broome Boulevard Shopping Centre on Frederick Street, witnesses said they saw a car repeatedly ram another car in the shopping centre’s car park. The car being rammed had two small children aged three and four inside and their grandmother. The mother of one of the children and aunt of the other said she had gone inside the shopping centre to buy some milk when the attack occurred. “That car being smashed into had my three-year-old son in it. I was inside Woolworths buying him some milk while he waited in the car with my mum and four-year-old nephew,” she said. The grandmother of the two children said the event was “traumatising” for her and the children. “It was very scary and dangerous, someone could have been hurt or killed,” she said. “The Prado past me earlier before going to the boulevard but turned around and came back looking for my vehicle. (They) found me at the shops, blocked me off then chased and rammed me all over the car park.” The victim said the occupants of the vehicle then got out and doused her with vinegar before fleeing the scene. “People in the other car got out ran to me and threw a whole bottle of vinegar cider all over me,” she said. “I could not see my eyes and my whole face was burning. “Finally after so long the car left and a whole heap of people were watching and helping me. “I only had my three and four-year-old (grandchildren) in the car and it was very traumatising for them.” Witnesses then came to the victim’s aid and helped wash her face and eyes, attending to her grandchildren. In a statement, a police spokesperson confirmed they have charged a 52-year-old woman over the incident. It was alleged the woman - driving a Toyota Prado - deliberately drove into the rear end of a Toyota Rav 4. Nobody was injured in the collision. The woman was later charged with reckless driving, endangering life and breach of a family violence restraining order and appeared before Broome Magistrates Court on December 5. The case was remanded and she is due to appear in Bidyadanga Magistrates Court on December 13. Local police have declined to comment.
