Child sex abuse teacher Naomi Tekea Craig’s ‘bombshell’ maternity shoot in Fremantle days before arrest

A Mandurah teacher who admitted a sickening campaign of sexual abuse against a young student at her school spent her final days before she was charged posing for “glamour” maternity photos — celebrating a pregnancy with her 13-year-old victim. In a series of brazen professional photoshoots — one of which took place at iconic Fish n Chip shop Cicerello’s in Fremantle — Naomi Tekea Craig was seen cradling her bump and beaming for the camera. The 33-year-old mother-of-two wore nothing but white tracksuit pants and a leopard print top. Her pregnant bump was on display as Craig posed with one hand on her stomach and the other over her head staring into the sun. Photographers who snapped the shots in early December took to social media to describe her as a “Christina Aguilera doppelganger” and an “absolute bombshell.” The images from the maternity photo shoot were uploaded on December 7 — just over a week before she last abused the boy on December 16. Another round of maternity photoshoots were also found of her first pregnancy. The photos — posted in March 2022 — show Ms Craig in white lingerie, a white sheer lace cape draped over her arms and a hat as she looks over the ocean. The photographer described her as a “pregnant goddess”. The photos were uncovered on social media just one day after Craig uttered the words “guilty, your honour” 15 times. The former educator was initially charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a child over 13 and under 16, persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16 and a possessing child exploitation material offence. On Tuesday, she faced a further 11 offences, including five counts of sexual penetration of a child under 13, two counts of sexually penetrating a child aged 13 to 16 and indecent dealings with a child under 13, indecently dealing with a child under her authority, and possessing child exploitation material. These offences date back to August 2024 when the victim was just 12. Craig gave birth to a child on January 8, with the baby’s father understood to be her 13-year-old victim. It is understood DNA testing of a sample from her placenta found a link between the newborn and her victim. Craig’s lawyer Reid Hogan appeared in court in person and applied for a suppression order protecting Craig’s newborn due to “significant” media interest in the case. This order was granted by Magistrate Clare Cullen and prevents the publication of the infant’s name and any medical conditions the child has. “Any child involved in the justice system must be protected and their privacy must be protected, and there’s no reason why anything to do with the child should be published,” Ms Cullen added. “That not only goes for the accused’s young infant child, but also the complainant.” Hogan described Craig’s bail conditions as “onerous”, but said they were keen to progress the case “as soon as possible”. These conditions prevent Craig from having contact with any children other than her newborn, prevents her from having access to her older child, and the child she sexually assaulted. The victim was referred to only as the complainant and Ms Cullen said she would not use his initials, as Craig was aware of them. The 33-year-old did not appear in court on Tuesday on the advice of her physician who sent on a letter excusing her appearance in person.
