The father of a young man found dead in bushland after going missing has shared a heartbreaking tribute to his son.

The body of Kyle Morris, 20, was found by police in Bridgeman Downs in Brisbane’s north on Monday afternoon, a week after he was last seen walking barefoot into bushland, his father confirmed.

Darren Morris said that his son’s death has left many heartbroken.

“It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you, that our beloved son has been found dead this afternoon,” Mr Morris said on social media.

“Even though this is devastating to Kyle’s family and friends, it is only through all of your efforts, care, concern, best wishes, sharing of posts, posting up flyers, the great SES volunteers (Anita and the team), the police force (Corey, Troy, Kayne and the team at Albany Creek) etc. that we found him so quickly and the family can now rest, knowing that Kyle is not alone and suffering somewhere.

“You should all be proud of yourselves as a community. I thank you all from the bottom of my broken heart. RIP mate.”

Queensland Police launched a large-scale ground search around after the 20-year-old was reported missing, including help from 25 SES personnel.

Mr Morris is believed to have parked his motorcycle in Karri Place at Bridgeman Downs at about 2:15am on Monday June 12 before walking off barefoot.

Darren and wife Natasha spearheaded a huge social media call out for help finding the missing boy, with thousands of people sharing calls for help and information.

He also shared a plea directly to his son to come home while the family waited for answers.

“I can‘t imagine what you are going through, or what possessed you to leave like this, but please give me a chance to help you through it,” Mr Morris said.

“If I missed the signs that you were hurting or struggling, I am so sorry.

“Please give me the opportunity to make it up to you, to be a better dad, I won’t let you down again.”
