Four Harvey basketballers are on the fast track to representing the State with their selection in the Basketball WA Future Development Squad.

Jaxon Comito, 12, Anthony Martella, 13, Lain Hanould, 12, and Sierraleone Simpson, 12, impressed at try-outs in Perth.

Harvey Basketball Association president Ninnette Comito said the squad was made of the top young players in the State and put them on the path to represent WA.

“We just want to say a big congratulations to our junior Harvey basketball players and that we are proud to have these guys represent Harvey,” she said.

Jaxon, Sierraleone and Lain were selected as All Stars in Country Week in February.

Mrs Comito said players in the future development squad jumped forward in the selection rounds for the WA squad to compete at the School Sport Australia tournament in Darwin in August.

“Being in this squad makes it easier to get into the WA State school boys and girls,” she said.

“They’re already training together.

“Usually the future development squad kids get through.”

All four students are playing in the WA Basketball League in the South West Slammers’ under 14 squad this year.

This is Anthony’s first year in the WABL, while this is Lain’s second year and the third year for Jaxon and Sierraleone.
