Police call for witnesses to fatal crash

Police are calling for witnesses to a fatal crash in Coolup on Sunday in which a 78-year-old cyclist was hit by a car.

Just after 8.20am, the man’s bike was hit from behind by a white Holden Colorado while cycling along Fishermans Road, west of Coolup.

The man was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from his bicycle in the crash.

St John Ambulance volunteers attended the scene but the man died as a result of his injuries.

The 22-year-old female driver of the Colorado is assisting police.

Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or saw the cyclist or Colorado prior to the incident to come forward.
