Two injured in Australind train crash at Waroona

A man and a woman escaped with minor injuries today after a crash between their car and the Australind Train service about 11am in Waroona

The crash occurred at the Coronation Road level crossing near Waroona Train Station with emergency services responding to the scene.

The RAC helicopter also responded landing on the Parnell Street Oval.

The man and woman, aged in their 30s, were initially treated at the scene with the man later transported to Peel Health Campus.

The 50 to 60 train passengers were all uninjured and buses were organised to complete their journey.

The train was damaged and will be taken to a depot for inspection. Coach services in place of the Australind service have been organised for the rest of the day.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
