A lucky Paraburdoo punter is $1 million richer after a ticket sold in the Pilbara town matched the winning numbers in Saturday Lotto.
The division one win is the first to land in the Pilbara region in 2026, sending a major windfall to one lucky local or visitor.
Paraburdoo Lotteries & News manager Jo Sgambelluri said the win was fantastic news for the small community.
“We have a loyal group of regular customers but we’re also a fly-in, fly-out town with lots of workers and travellers passing through,” she said.
“There’s lots of grey nomads at this time of year, as well as families and younger people exploring Karijini National Park.
“All I know is it’s none of my staff as I haven’t had any resignations!”
Lotterywest spokeswoman Zoe Wender said that it was exciting to have another regional WA community celebrate a jackpot.
It comes just a month after a division one Saturday Lotto prize was claimed in the Wheatbelt town of Wickepin.
“This is WA’s 31st Saturday Lotto division one win of 2026 and the eighth Saturday Lotto division one win in regional WA,” Ms Wender said.
Another WA player also struck it lucky over the weekend, with a ticket sold by Willetton Newsagency winning a division two Set for Life prize.
The winner will pocket $5000 a month for the next 12 months.
