A man has been treated for smoke inhalation, and a house has been destroyed after a blaze in Perth’s north on Monday evening.

Emergency services were called to a house fire on Rupara Circle in Quinns Rocks just before 4.30pm.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze but a man in his 40s had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Crews remained on scene overnight with firefighters continuing to patrol and mop up the area.

The home has extensive damage with the roof falling in.

A smoke alert was in place until 7am with people in the area urged to remain inside, out of the smoke, with doors and windows closed and air conditioners switched off.

Smoke was also visible over Marmion Avenue with motorists urged to reduce their speed and drive carefully.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services are investigating the cause of the fire.
