AFL: West Coast return to Optus in celebration of 40 years of AFL history and 20 years since their historic 2006 flag, with a win against Richmond non-negotiable.

The Eagles are under massive pressure after a month of thrashings, including a 101-point mauling against St Kilda last weekend.

Richmond comes into the game without a win but will see this clash as their best chance to sing the song for the first time in 2026 with all the pressure on the Eagles.

Shanahan gets his first

The Eagles ball movement today has been desperately slow which has allowed the Tigers to flood defence.

But finally it pays off as Shanahan takes an excellent contested mark and converts around the corner to make it a nine-point game.

Kelly finds a response

A desperately needed one for the Eagles who get a free from the centre stoppage.

It goes to Waterman off hands as Kelly gets the loose ball and snaps through a goal to bring it back to 15 points.

Tigers have another

Another inside 50 for the Eagles is repeleld and the Tigers are outnumbered on the wing.

They got to Lynch and all the Eagles defenders fly then go to ground as Richmond keep their feet as McAuliffe gets one.

Horrible turnover

Lindsay misses Ginbey by a long way and you can’t defend that as Richmond go straight back as Steely Green takes an uncontested mark.

He converts and it’s a game-high 16-point lead to the Tigers.

We’re back underway

Yeo with a huge tackle on McAuliffe to win an early free kick and goes long to Shanahan who takes a good low mark.

But he misses to the right.

Andrew Embley shares his thoughts

He’s doing a lap of honour around Optus with his former teammates.

“It’s been a great few days to be able to share an incredible 20 years now,” he says.

“It’s a great chance to reflect on a really special time for the club.

“Harley’s couple of goals have been rarely special and I like the way Duursma goes about it.

“Hopefully these guys can buy and in a couple years time win a few more games

.”

It’s Harley or nothing

The Eagles star has 16 touches six clearances and two goals. Tim Kelly is next best with 10 disposals and four clearances.

The Eagles are losing clearances by one as Batla along with kicking two goals is squaring his ruck battle with Williams.

Maybe they can call Judd down from the stands?

Balta has another on the siren

Make that 19 straight quarters lost for the Eagles.

They were up until they gave away back to back goals to Balta.

It comes after a free kick against Harley for a throw in the middle.

Again Balta just comes through the pack to take the mark with the Eagles just unable to apply pressure.

They trail by 10 at the break.

Noah Balta with a goal

It’s a ninth lead change for the game as he’s just too strong for Brady Hough to take the contested mark.

Puts the Tigers up by four and the Eagles’ defence is struggling to defend the tall targets

Maric with a rare goal

Free in the middle goes to Kelly who goes to a contest Reid’s kick is smothered but it lands in the hands of Maric who snaps and goals.
